So the hardest part of going gluten free is reading food labels and trying to figure out if there are additives or unfamiliar ingredients that contain gluten. First and Foremost: Look for: wheat, rye, oats (assume oats are contaminated with gluten unless the package says gluten free), barley, malt, and brewer's yeast as the main ingredients containing gluten. Since wheat is common food allergy, food items are required to comment if they contain wheat (if they do, then they contain gluten). Also, any food that contains "flour" without further specification likely is derived from wheat flour and thus also is a no go! Malt is made from barley, thus any products derived from it are not gluten free. Non distilled vinegars are not gluten free but distilled vinegar
