Some patients with celiac disease have symptoms and some do not. Classical symptoms include diarrhea, bloating, and weight loss due to malabsorption. Others may have fatigue due to iron deficiency, dental enamel defects, osteoporosis, arthritis, increased liver enzymes, neurological symptoms, infertility, rash, etc. Celiac disease can be associated with other autoimmune conditions and even cancer. The signs and symptoms of celiac disease can improve by going on a gluten free diet. This condition can be associated with vitamin and mineral deficiencies which may need to be replaced with supplements. Talk to your gastroenterologist about getting tested for vitamin and mineral deficiencies if you have been diagnosed with celiac disease. #celiac
